Bring it on, March!

I am ready for the month of March. Why, you ask? Because it is James's birthday month. I get excited over James's birthday. We have a little trip planned over his birthday weekend to Philadelphia and NYC to visit family. James loves traveling, so I thought this trip would be perfect for his birthday.

Maybe I have taken after my Mom, but I need trips to look forward to. My Mom says right after she comes home from a trip, she wants to start planning her next trip. I think I have become the same way. This year, I have made it a goal to have a small trip or adventure to look forward to each month.  It makes life more exciting, even if it's a trip to Logan, Utah or an overnight stay at a hotel downtown. Maybe this isn't really realistic, but It makes life more fun! Life gets too serious sometimes, you need a little chance to let down each month (in my opinion).

Something I have experimented with this year is eating less sweets. My Dad is the treat KING and is always asking us kids, "Do you want to go get a treat? Ice cream? What sounds good?" So as one of my resolutions this year, I have limited my sweets intake to ONE treat a week. It hasn't been as hard as i thought it would be. I would eat a little piece of chocolate each day, and now I am just eating one piece of candy a WEEK. I have been surprised that my body kind of goes into shock when I eat something really sugary now, because it isn't expecting all the sugar that it used to get. Anyway, just an observation.

Life is good. I can't wait for it to warm up even more. This winter hasn't been bad at ALL. I haven't had to scrape my icy windshield more than 10 times this winter, which is a record! I haven't had to drive to work with gloves on at all, and last winter I drove to work early in the morning with gloves on almost daily. Life is good.

James loves his new job. He is working at Banyan Ventures in Salt Lake City with all of his good friends. He loves the people he works with and is in such a happy environment.

Life is good (and simple right now). Just the way we like it.

  1. I love vacations too. Mom raised us right. You must not have sweets in the house, then if you just eat one candy a week. My kids and I have piles of candy as rewards (using the toilet for them, not ME) and I just basically eat it all. I also have swimsuit weather year round here, so thats not fun with my sweet tooth.
